Disney’s Epcot, which originally was called EPCOT Center, opened October 1, 1982 and was the second theme park built at the Walt Disney World resort in Florida. Best known for the geodesic sphere near the entrance, Epcot started off as a concept for an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT). Our favorite Epcot memory comes from riding Spaceship Earth decades ago when it boldly claimed in the future, we will be talking with each other on video phones. Now this portion of the ride is hidden behind a black curtain.
